Professor Ian Anderson (Chair)
Professor Ian Anderson’s family is Palawa Trouwunna: Plaimairrerenner and Trawlwoolway clans. He is the foundation Chair of Indigenous Health at The University of Melbourne and former Director of the Onemda VicHealth Koori Health Unit at the Melbourne School of Population Health. Professor Anderson is now the Director of Murrup Barak, the Melbourne Institute for Indigenous Development. The Institute provides overarching support and coordination for the University’s suite of Indigenous programs. Professor Anderson is also the Director of Research and Innovation at the Lowitja Institute, Australia’s National Institute for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Research, incorporating the Cooperative Research Centre for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health. Professor Anderson has been a full-time research academic since 1998. He completed a medical degree at the University of Melbourne in 1989 and has a PhD in Sociology and Anthropology from La Trobe University.
